Arsenal have trimmed Liverpool’s Premier League title lead down to four points after beating Tottenham in the latest north London derby.

The Gunners fought back from Heung-min Son’s opener against the run of play to run out 2-1 winners at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night thanks to Dominic Solanke’s own goal forced by Gabriel and a quick-fire effort from Leandro Trossard.

That victory over fierce rivals Spurs saw Arsenal leapfrog in-form Nottingham Forest back into second place in the Premier League table and move within four points of leaders Liverpool.

The Reds had initially stayed six points clear at the top-flight summit after substitute Diogo Jota scored just 22 seconds after coming on to cancel out Chris Wood’s opener and secure a hard-fought 1-1 tie at Forest on Tuesday evening.

Manchester City had another late implosion to draw at Brentford, while Graham Potter got his first win as West Ham boss in a five-goal thriller against Fulham. Chelsea needed Reece James’ last-gasp equaliser off the bench to snatch a draw at home to Bournemouth and are now winless in five league matches with their top-four spot in jeopardy.

Wednesday saw Crystal Palace deepen Leicester’s relegation fears, while David Moyes began his second Everton spell with defeat by Aston Villa and Newcastle brushed aside Wolves, jumping above Chelsea and into the top four in the process.

Manchester United’s home game against Southampton rounds off the action on Thursday night, with Ipswich also meeting Brighton.
